Rachel comes to NOSHC with several years of experience as a speech-language pathologist in the school system. Her professional experience first began in the Austin, TX Independent School District. She decided to move back to her home town of New Orleans where she worked for a couple of years in the Jefferson Parish School District. Rachel's passion to work with Spanish speakers and her love of working with children make her an integral part of our growing organization.

Rachel said, "I was interested in learning Spanish and becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist separately before I realized I could combine both!  I loved how knowing Spanish increased the number of people I could communicate with in this world.  As a bilingual SLP I can help children with communication impairments improve how they communicate with others in their native language.  I am able to treat more clients from different language and cultural backgrounds by working with English and Spanish-speaking children.  I believe it is important to be exposed to different languages and cultures and see the benefits to learning two languages, both socially and cognitively."
