Frequently Asked Questions

What advice would you give someone who is on the fence about whether or not to get a hearing aid?

Ashley Brewer: I would tell them if they are not ready and willing to accept a hearing aid then the time is not right for them to buy them.  If they can accept wearing a HA, there is a trial period and they can return the HA if it is too overwhelming.

Have you seen hearing loss harm relationships?

Ashley Brewer: Hearing loss can definitely harm relationships.  When one person feels they do not need a hearing aid, yet their partner feels they cannot communicate the relationship will suffer and over time they will stop communicating with each other because it is too difficult.  Also, hearing loss can lead to social isolation and depression which can affect relationships.

Have you noticed a change in customer satisfaction as hearing aid technology has advanced?

Ashley Brewer: As technology improves, there are more modifications audiologists can do to hearing aids which is a benefit.  Customers are doing better in noisy situations than with previous technology.  However, as technology gets better, customers expectations become higher.  It is always important to stress the drawbacks and limitations.
